I swear, Valve is one day going to take over the world. Or maybe they already have. It’s just that they have this compulsion to continually release delightful animated videos, comics, and all manner of innovative interactive software for our sensory pleasure. Today, they launched the long-awaited Meet the Pyro video. And we get a glimpse into the psyche of this sadistic hot-blooded killer. All is not what it seems.
Alongside the new Pyro release, which brings with it a whole bunch of TF2 in-game goodies, Valve is also launching the beta for Source Filmmaker. A piece of kit that lets users create their own Machina videos using in-game content straight from TF2. First, the easy-to-use-out-of-the-box Portal 2 level creator, now this. Then there’s talk of Valve wanting to get into education and television. This is how you keep people interested in your games without asking them to fork out more money for DLCs. This is how a video game developer stays classy. If Valve was to really take over the world one day, I don’t think it’d be such a bad thing.
