Sometimes when you’re trying to be creative you just need a little background music to put you in the right mood. While I still keep my writing secret for the most part, I can still share the stuff that gets the juices going.
I hereby present my fanmixes!
We all know how great Lena Dunham’s choice of music is in Girls. But what about her visual Easter Eggs? I don’t know if this is on purpose, but I totes think she was referencing Arctic Monkeys’ zinger of a music video of Alex Turner crooning Cornerstone, in the latest episode of Girls (S2e07). Just take a look at one of the characters in the episode below.
Can’t see it behind his long hair, but he’s got headphones on too. Plus, Alex Turner in Cornerstone is a crooning loser, and this character in Girls is a major domo loser too. Coincidence?!?
Nice one, Lena, nice one. And high-five me, for spotting it.
You can watch the Arctic Monkeys’ video below the cut, if you so choose.
There goes my money!
It’s the holiday season, but this isn’t really a holiday post. It’s a list of a few things that give me the happies, though.
On October 26th, intrepid bloggers Pearlyn and Junch head down to Universal Studios Singapore to experience the freaky-deaky event that is Halloween Horror Nights 2012. We write in a lot of words below what we thought of it. Read on, IF YOU DARE! Here’s Junch’s account.

I really have this dark wish that one day zombies would really walk the Earth again. And then we can show Rick Grimes that surviving the zombie apocalypse is actually a walk in the park. Or not.
Anyway, as is wont of the Internetsphere, built by some guy named Jeff @ Doejo (a site which doesn’t currently have anything on it), there is an actual world map (built on top the Google Maps engine) that shows hot spots where zombie infestati0ns might occur. It appears that Singapore would not survive a zombie invasion. Not unless we swim to one of the outlying islands. Thankfully I can swim.
Check it here and search your address! It also shows where you could go for supplies, fuel, medical care, etc. Awesomesauce.
Every second, a website is born. And every three seconds, a website dies. Okay, I don’t know if that’s true, I made that up.
Anyway, welcome! You are now reading the first ever post of this new infant website that slipped out from in between the legs that is the ether of the Internet.
Big Gap is the place for the strange, the annoying, and the wonderful on everything video games, TV, pop culture, music, whatever comes out of the deep, dark recesses of our minds. I think everything is inter-connected, we live in an age where there is cross-pollination of ideas. Where Tarantino is referencing manga in movies, where video games can be likened to cinema, or where music takes its inspiration from television. Nothing is safe, nothing is sacred, and we best complain about it right here.
